I love the two long weekends we have in May, an extra two days to play games, regardless of the weather. The first bank holiday is May Day so these games are themed around needing help. As always, we’d love to hear what games you’ve been playing over the bank holidays.
Red November sees up to 8 players cooperate to survive in a gnomish submarine whilst everything goes wrong! Each turn, players can move and use time to perform an action such as repairs, removing obstacles or stocking up. Over the course of the game, Asphyxiation, Heat and Pressure are measured and if any of them reaches the maximum on the disaster track, the submarine is lost! Oh, and other emergencies will also crop up making it harder to stay alive until rescuers arrive!
In Pandemic, up to 4 players take a unique role and then travel, treat populations, discover a cure or build a research station as you work together to try to combat several diseases before time runs out. Settle in to play this with some “Don’t worry be happy” chicken wings.
If you want to feel even more danger in your game, Arkam Horror might be one to try. Up to 8 investigators work together to gain skills, allies, weapons, spells and items to defeat an Ancient One by fighting monsters and closing portals before the Ancient One awakens. Good luck – you’ll need it!
