Today Tinkerbot Games and UK Games Expo announce the launch of the 24hr Game Design Hackathon Event happening live at the UK Games Expo 2018.
This event is being run by Tinkerbot Games who felt that the UKGE should have a fun design event for aspiring game designers to take part in. It’s being sponsored by Cardiff based tabletop games retailer Rules of Play who will be providing the prize of £100 of Rules of Play vouchers.
During the weekend of the UK Games Expo 10 entrants or teams will have 24 hours to design a brand new game using only the components they receive in a box at the beginning of the challenge. Each of the 10 boxes is identical in its components, so the teams all have the same starting place. They’ll be provided with a ‘brief’ to design to, and at the end of the challenge they’ll have to pitch their game to a panel of judges in front of an audience.
